The São Paulo Museum of Art in Brazil (MASP) will hold an exhibition on Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. The exhibition will take place on December 12, 2020-March 23, 2021. The exhibition is titled Beatriz Milhazes: Avenida Paulista and is held in the context of MASP’s yearlong focused program dedicated to Histories of Dance.
Milhazes (Rio de Janeiro, 1960) is recognized for her singular production of a complex repertoire of images, forms and colors associated to the baroque, to modernism and to Brazilian popular motifs, such as Carnival, as well as tropical flora and fauna.
The exhibition will present a broad selection of paintings and collages produced from the 1990s onward, along with never-before-shown works made in partnership with choreographer Marcia Milhazes. It will also be accompanied by an ample catalog with reproductions of the artworks shown and essays about the artist’s production.
