BIG FRED TUESDAY – radio cinema broadcast #46 (FRED.FM)

Cinephile! This week’s episode of the Big Fred Tuesday features an interview with Kateryna Gornostai, the Ukrainian director whose feature debut, Stop-Zemlia, won the Crystal Bear at this year’s Berlinale Generation 14plus strand. The film takes an authentic yet fictional look at the lives of a group of kids in their mid-teens.

The Cannes Film Festival has announced its 2021 lineup, so I have curated a selection of clips from the FRED archives with filmmakers with a couple of filmmakers who will be presenting their new works in Cannes this year. Additionally, I return to talk about method acting in this week’s Dictionary of Film segment and sing the praises of Hunger by Steve McQueen from 2008 in the regular Popcorn Classics segment. STAY CINEPHILE!
