For the latest episode of my ART CHATS, I interviewed a friend of mine: documentary filmmaker Zoe Aiano. I met Zoe a few years ago at a film festival in Cluj, Romania, where I believe she was a member of the accredited press. Shortly after I met her, she started making films of her own. On this chat we talk about her latest film projects, as well as other topics, including Brexit and sex.

Matt’s Art Chat #5: Lukos Hey (PODCAST)

On my latest episode of Matt’s Art Chat I speak with Lukos Hey, Australian-born, Prague-based painter/artist. I had discussed the possibility of filming one of my Long Takes at his art studio last year. Things didn’t work out in the end but I hope to be able to film one next month when I will return to Prague. In the meantime, I thought it would be interesting to record a chat with him, so that we could get to know each other over the phone.

This chat was recorded as Hey presented some of his works in an exhibition in Prague. In this interview, we talk about his scientific approach, color, his work as an art educator and some of the stories behind some of his works.

On my latest episode of Matt’s Art Chat, I speak with my friend, Egyptian author Mirna El Mahdy. I met Mirna two years ago at the Cairo International Film Festival two years ago. Shortly after that, I found out that she had published her first novel. This chat was recorded on the eve of the launch of her second published work.

On this chat, Mirna and I talk about influences, inspiration, writing techniques and more. We also talk about ghosts, with Mirna making references to Egyptian mythology.
